All prospective SRTC training scholarship applicants must
ensure they meet the following eligibility requirements:
(Please
note that only scholarship applications from applicants
meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered.)
All Skin Research Training Centre scholarship applicants meet
a number of requirements prior to submission of a scholarship
application.
All scholarship applicants must complete all the following:
1. Prospective SRTC scholarship applicants must identify
a supervisor for the research component
of their
SRTC scholarship training and confirm a supervisor's support
prior to application. A
list of current
SRTC supervisors can be found on
this page. Other supervisors not currently listed may
also be acceptable. Please contact
the SRTC coordinator to
determine
a supervisor's
suitability in advance of any SRTC scholarship application.
2. Prospective SRTC scholarship applicants should confirm
they have the appropriate, relevant academic education for
the scholarship category to which they intend to apply. Graduate
student applicants must hold a degree that is academically
equivalent to
a 4-year Canadian Bachelor's degree with excellent grades.
Postdoctoral fellows will be expected to hold a PhD
or equivalent with excellent grades. Clinical fellows must
hold an MD or equivalent and have completed their residency
training. Research nurses and and other health care professionals
can
also apply
for SRTC scholarships with strong academic credentials.
3. Graduate student applicants (MSc/PhD) must ensure that
they meet the admission requirements of the University/College
and Faculty they will matriculate with. Different Faculties
within a college may have different matriculation eligibility
requirements. Students should discuss the specifics of their
eligibility
with their
prospective
supervisor
in
advance of submitting an SRTC scholarship application.
4. Scholarship applicants need not have prior training in
a field of dermatology. However, applicants should expect
to be exclusively focused on research and training in
aspects of dermatology for the duration of their SRTC scholarship
and should be focused on a future career in dermatology.
5. All prospective scholarship applicants must develop a
research proposal and training plan in consultation with
their prospective
supervisors. This typically requires a significant amount
of time. Prospective applicants are advised to contact their
supervisors well in advance of application.
