Outstanding students
and clinicians are invited to apply for
research training scholarships with the
CIHR Skin Research Training Centre (CIHR-SRTC).
The CIHR-SRTC is affiliated with the
University of British Columbia and its
teaching hospitals.
The core mission of the CIHR Skin Research
Training Centre (CIHR-SRTC)
is to dramatically expand the intellectual
and human resource capacity for skin
research in Canada as well as to produce
internationally competitive and influential
research leaders in skin research. The
vision of the CIHR-SRTC is one of skin
research excellence through the creating
of vital and integrated knowledge of
the skin and its diseases and the translation
of this knowledge into optimized prevention
and treatment strategies to restore and
maintain healthy skin.
Trainee projects available through this
innovative, integrated program encompass
a broad range of skin research topics
including:
- Skin Inflammation, Immunity,
and Tolerance;
- Skin Pigmentation,
Environmental Interactions, and
Biophysics;
- Wound Healing and Cutaneous
Stem
Cells;
- Skin Disease Epidemiology,
Health Outcomes, and Pharmacoeconomics.
Scholarship support will be commensurate
with experience and training level. Funding
will initially be for one year with
the possibility of renewal. Please note
that a condition of additional future
funding by the CIHR-SRTC is the formal
submission of application(s) for funding
from other local, provincial, and national
granting agencies.
The deadline for the 2012 Cycle 1 competition
is November 14, 2011; complete applications
must be received no later than 3:00
PM Pacific local time.
