funding for medical research; builds
research capacity in under-developed
areas such as population health and health
services research; supports training
of the next generation of health researchers;
and promotes knowledge translation, so
that the results of research are transformed
into
policies, practices, procedures, products
and services and Canada.
Institute of Musculoskeletal
Health and Arthritis (IMHA). IMHA has been a
long standing partner of the SRTC. IMHA
supports research to enhance active living,
mobility and movement, and oral health;
and addresses causes, prevention, screening,
diagnosis, treatment, support systems,
and palliation for a wide range of conditions
related to bones, joints, muscles, connective
tissue, skin and teeth. To achieve its
vision, IMHA focuses on three strategic
research priorities; Physical activity,
mobility and health; tissue injury, repair
and replacement; pain,
disability and chronic disease.

Institute (VCHRI). VCHRI
is one of the five top Research Institutes
in Canada with over $80 million in
research funding. The Institute
is a partnership between Vancouver
Coastal Health Authority and the University
of British Columbia. VCHRI
has helped develop
world leading research programs, including the Brain
Research Centre; the Centre for Hip Health; and ICORD
(International Collaboration On Repair Discoveries), an
interdisciplinary research centre for the development of
effective strategies to promote functional recovery after
