CIHR Skin Research Training Centre

What are the CIHR Skin Research Training Centre objectives

The core mission of the CIHR Skin Research Training Centre (CIHR-SRTC, skinresearch.ca) is to dramatically expand the intellectual and human resource capacity for skin research in Canada as well as to produce internationally competitive and influential research leaders in skin research.

The vision of the CIHR-SRTC is one of skin research excellence through the creating of vital and integrated knowledge of the skin and its diseases and the translation of this knowledge into optimized prevention and treatment strategies to restore and maintain healthy skin.

Located at Vancouver General Hospital Department of Dermatology and Skin Science, this $1.8 million CIHR funded venture provides skin research training to both clinicians and scientists. It is anticipated that after its first six years, the CIHR-SRTC will have supported 60 trainee-years of research representing at least 6 postdoctoral research scientists, 12 clinician-investigators, and 10-12 MSc/PhD graduates to lead research in skin inflammation, immunology, and repair in Canada.
